Traineeships in Derby

Join a Traineeship Programme with Derby Adult Learning Service.

The Traineeship Programme will prepare you for your future career by helping you to become “work ready” and have the confidence to take the first step into your career. A Traineeship can also be your stepping stone towards an apprenticeship.

Traineeships for 16 - 24 year olds – what are they?

Traineeships are designed to be very flexible and tailored to your needs and those of employers providing the work experience opportunity. Employers can design a high quality traineeship in partnership with Derby Adult Learning Service – one that suits both you as the trainee and the employer.

Traineeships last anything from six weeks to six months and include:

  • A substantial work placement for at least 100 hours. The placement will be with an Employer and will provide experience of working in a real work environment
  • Functional Skills English and maths qualifications for those Trainees who do not have GCSE grade A–C or equivalent
  • ICT qualification for those Trainees who do not have an ICT qualification
  • Employability Skills – eg creating an impressive CV, getting the job application right, the do’s and don’ts at an interview and much more to get you prepared for getting into work.
