Who is this course for

For everyone who would like to learn the basic techniques for sketching and drawing.

What are the entry requirements

There are no specific requirements.
It is recommended that you will collect your artwork in a folder or sketchbook.
You are also required to attend regularly each week to commit to successfully completion of this course.

What will I be learning

You will learn drawing and sketching basic techniques. You will learn basic visual language, how to construct your drawing, basic composition approaches and basic shading techniques.

How will I be assessed and supported

You will have an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) where we will support you to set your own learning goals at the start of your course.  You will be regularly assessed and reviewed along your learning journey by your tutor, along with self-assessment, to help you achieve these goals.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring either a sketching pad or a sketching-book, a selection of pencils from HB to 6 or 8B and a rubber or putty
eraser. Optional: a tablet or an iPad to look at photo reference, pastels or watercolour pencils.

There are no additional fees.

What can this course lead to

You could progress to the following courses: Watercolour Painting, Drawing and Watercolour Painting Online.
We also offer qualifications: NCFE Level 1 and Level 2 Certificates in Art and Design.
