Course Information

What will I be learning?

We have teamed up with the AIM Qualifications and Assessment Group to offer a free e-learning course covering a range of topics relating to Employability.  You can do this course at your own pace at a time that suits.  You do not need to attend a virtual classroom.

We will contact you initially by telephone or email and explain how the course works and assist with any set up problems.  The course is available through our derbylearn virtual learning environment.  The following modules are included, and you can do as many of these as you wish.

Modules include:

  • Job search
  • Understanding how to be successful
  • Internet safety
  • Equality & Diversity
  • Health & Safety
  • Employment Rights, Contract and Pay

Does the course lead to a qualification?

This course does lead to a qualification. An AIM certificate.

Who is the course for?

The course is for anyone who wants help preparing for work either now on in the future.

What do I need to bring?

You will need access to the internet and preferably a computer or tablet, although it is possible to access the course on your mobile phone.

Are there any additional costs?

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

You work through Units in each of the Modules.  The last Unit of each Module is an assessment.

At DALS, we use an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set and review targets and provide feedback, enabling continual reflection and evaluation throughout the course. Learners will also receive verbal and/or written feedback on marked work. Learners will use their ILP to help track and monitor their own progress towards set goals, to support personal development and achievement.

[There is no formal exam, although there is continual evaluation throughout the course].

Can I have help in the class?

At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability and require support. Learners declaring a support need will be referred for an assessment. If an enhanced support need is confirmed, a Support Package will be offered, to assist your progress in your learning and development, specific to your assessed needs.
