Course Information

What will I be learning?

Being outside is good for our physical and mental wellbeing.

Being mindful means concentrating on what is happening around you now and not worrying about what has happened in the past or might happen in the future.

Being mindful can help you to take some time away from your worries and stresses and enjoy the moment.

On this course you will take part in some short mindful walks – you do not need to be able to walk for long distances to join us.

Does the course lead to a qualification?

You will not get a formal qualification on this course.

Who is the course for?

The course is for anyone who wants to learn about mindful walking

What do I need to bring?

Suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.

You might want to bring a bottle of water.

Are there any additional costs?

No

How we will be helping you to keep safe in your class

We have been working hard to make sure you will be safe in your class when you are with us. This is what we will be doing and asking you to do:

  • There will be less people in your class
  • You will be 2 metres apart as much as possible
  • Resources will be cleaned during use
  • The classrooms will be cleaned after each class
  • You will be in classrooms with opening windows
  • You will be asked not to touch or hug other people
  • We will be asking you to wash your hands often and sanitizer will be available for you to use
  • Please do not come in if you are ill. If you become ill while you are with us you will be sent home

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

After each session, you will be helped to keep a record of what you have learned. You tutor will tell you how they think you are getting on and what you need to do next.

You will meet with your tutor every term to talk about your progress.

Can I have help in the class?

At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability and require support. Learners declaring a support need will be referred for an assessment. If an enhanced support need is confirmed, a Support Package will be offered, to assist your progress in your learning and development, specific to your assessed needs.

Progression within DALS

We have lots of courses planned to ensure you have a variety of progression routes. If you are interested in another course, please ask for more information or telephone our helpline on 01332 956565 or DALSenquiries@derby.gov.uk

At the end of your course your tutor will talk to you about which courses may help you in the future.

Health and Wellbeing

The slogan you see on our brochures and leaflets is:   meet  enjoy  learn  achieve .

This is because we believe that taking part in adult and community learning can open the door to new friendships, give you something enjoyable and worthwhile to do with your time, enable you to learn something new and give you a sense of achievement. That's got to make you feel good!
