This course is ideal for people who want to work as a qualified counsellor in an agency setting.What are the entry requirements

What will I be learning
The theoretical approach underpinning this course is humanistically integrative.The course is made up of seven mandatory units which cover:
Working ethically, safely and professionally as a counsellor
Working within a counselling relationship
Working with client diversity in counselling work
Working within a user-centred approach to counselling
Working with self-awareness in the counselling process
Working within a coherent framework of counselling theory and skills
Working self-reflectively as a counsellor.
The course consists of 420 classroom taught hours (6 hours per week for 70 sessions over 2 academic years). Learners are required to attend a minimum of 80% of taught sessions and in addition will be required to carry out independent study, and one to one and group tutorials outside of class time.
In addition to the above learners are required to complete:
Minimum of 100 hours one-to-one, formally contracted counselling with at least five different clients in agency settings.
Minimum of 10 hours personal therapy.
Clinical supervision in line with BACP requirements for trainee counsellors while in agency placement.
How will I be assessed and supported
Throughout this course you will be required to reflect on your learning and progress by completing weekly reflective journals. These will be marked by your tutors and you will receive feedback on your progress and areas you could improve.You will receive feedback from your tutors and peers about your skills practice.
You will also take part in regular tutorials with your tutor. At these you will discuss your areas for development and set and review your learning goals.
Learners will also receive verbal and/or written feedback on marked and skills work.
To achieve this qualification you will need to demonstrate competence through internal and external assessments, and placement practice. Please ask us for more information about this course and assessment requirements.

The cost of the course is £4,670 for the 2 years (this price may be subject to a small increase). The course is eligible for funding with an Advanced Learner Loan (please note that we have a limited amount of Learner Loan funding available) or you can self-fund. Please be aware that you will also need to pay for personal therapy and clinical supervision (if this is not provided by the agency).What can this course lead to
