Who is this course for

This course is not suitable for complete beginners to computers, you should already be able to use a keyboard and mouse and access the Internet to search for basic information.

If you have used a computer but have little or no confidence or would like to become confident with Excel then this course will be ideal for you.

What are the entry requirements

No past experience in using Excel is required but you should be able to use a computer to perform basic tasks.

Please note:

You must attend all classes and arrive to classes on time; failure to do this may result in removing you from class

You are expected to learn independently outside of class time completing any homework/revision tasks set by your tutor.

What will I be learning

This is a hands on course that will introduce spreadsheet techniques using Microsoft Excel.

This course has three learning outcomes:

Enter and edit information in a spreadsheet.
Use formulae and tools.
Use tools and techniques to format and present information.
Topics you will cover will include:

Create basic documents using Microsoft Excel
Summarise and display information.
Use functions and formulae to complete calculations.
Save and retrieve documents.
Format cells, rows and columns
Create and format charts.
Alter page layouts to improve the appearance of documents.
On completion of the course, you should be confident using Microsoft Excel for a range of tasks.

How will I be assessed and supported

You will be supported by your tutor.

 

What do I need to bring?

Please bring a folder for storing any paper handouts, notepad, pen and proof of identification.
