Who is this course for
This course is for anyone who is thinking of a career in catering or customer services.What are the entry requirements
You will need to have a minimum of entry 3 English speaking and listening, and reading and writing, or be assessed as able to work at this level.You need to have some experience or knowledge of cooking or catering.
What will I be learning
This course is based in our Better Together Cafe in the Council House. Learners on this course will work in the cafe (prepare and serve food and drink to customers, cleaning, etc).On this course you will learn about:
Food safety and legal requirements for the catering industry
Preparing and serving a range of hot and cold food and drinks
Customer service skills
Learners who successfully complete this course will achieve City and Guilds Level 1 Award in Introduction to the Hospitality Industry.
At the end of the course we can help you to write a CV, application form, look for job vacancies.
How will I be assessed and supported
To achieve this qualification, you will collect a folder of evidence demonstrating your competence in catering. You will also take multiple choice exams to test your catering knowledge.At the beginning of the course you will be given an individual learning plan and each week you will be asked to fill in things that you have learnt after each session has finished. In addition, your tutor will be giving you weekly verbal and written feedback on your progress.
What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring a pen and folder.You will need to wear shoes which cover the tops of your feet. All other equipment will be provided.
