Who is this course for

Anyone with a learning disability who wants to improve their confidence in social settings.

What are the entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.

What will I be learning

On this course you will learn about
Where our personal confidence comes from.
Ways to change negative coping into positive coping skills.
Using positive self talk with ourselves.
Things which can affect our self esteem.

How will I be assessed and supported

At the beginning of the course you will talk to your tutor about what you will do on this course, and what you would like to achieve.
This course has no exam.
You will keep a weekly ILP to record how you are getting on. Your tutor will also write about your progress and what you need to do next in this ILP.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a pen and maybe a folder to keep your work in.

There is no additional cost for this course.

What can this course lead to

This course will help you to develop your confidence in social situations. After the course you may want to join a course to help you to continue to develop your skills for work, volunteering or independence. If so your tutor will talk to you about this at the end of the course.
You may decide that you would like to use your improved confidence to look for some voluntary or paid work. If your tutor can put you in touch with one of our employment advisors for help.
