Who is this course for

If you have a learning difficult and would like to improve your cooking skills, this course is for you. Whether you want to get better at cooking for yourself and others, or are interested in working in catering, this course can support you to achieve this.

What are the entry requirements

There are no entry requirements for this course.

What will I be learning

On the course you will learn
basic cooking skills,
kitchen safety, safe use of knives,
food safety,  cleaning, safe storage of food and
healthy eating.

How will I be assessed and supported

At the beginning of the course you will be given an individual learning plan.

You will use this to record all the things you achieve on the course. Each week your tutor will ask you to think about how well you have done with the tasks and what you need to do next.  Your tutor will also give you feedback.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a pen and folder.
You will need to bring a sandwich box or similar, to take home the food you have cooked.
You will need to wear flat comfortable shoes which cover the tops of your feet.
If you have long hair, you will need to tie this up.
If you would like, you can bring your own apron.

Any additional costs?

Each week you will cook some food to eat with us or take home. You will need to bring £3.00 towards the cost of the ingredients for this.
