Who is this course for
If you are interested in a caring role or to progress to practitioner level in counselling, this course will provide you with a sound basis to start your training.The course aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the vocation of counselling or enhance your functional role by acquiring proficiency across a range of counselling skills.
This course does not entitle those who achieve it, to practice counselling professionally. For this, further training will be required.
What are the entry requirements
You will need to be 19+ and have Level 2 English skills. You should also have completed the Introduction to Level 2 Counselling with us first.What will I be learning
On this course you will:Learn how to use a defined range of counselling skills.
Consider why you would use specific skills in particular situations.
Understand the importance of using counselling skills ethically and within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy's BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.
During the sessions you will take part in weekly skills practice.
As this is a qualification course, there is an expectation that you will complete work outside of the taught sessions such as writing a weekly reflective journal and assignments.
How will I be assessed and supported
Throughout the course you will receive written and verbal feedback from your tutor on written and practical activities. You will also give and receive feedback from other learners in the class on practical skills.To achieve the qualification, you will build up a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in all of the criteria. This portfolio will evidence your competence in theory and practical skills.
At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability which may require support. If you declare a support need, you will be referred for an assessment to identify what support can be provided
What do I need to bring?
You will need to access resources on our learning platform and upload work to an eportfolio, therefore you will need suitable IT equipment i.e. laptop, tablet, pc and internet access.You will also need to bring a pen and notepaper and you will need an A4 ring binder.

You could progress to a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling.We also have lots of other qualification courses planned to ensure you have a variety of progression routes to suit your chosen career path.
