Who is this course for

Are you considering working in schools or colleges as a Teaching assistant or maybe you are a parent who would like to understand more about how to best support your child to develop then this course is for you.

What are the entry requirements

You must already have a Level 1 English qualification (or equivalent) or be assessed as working at this level.
If you do not already have this qualification, you will be assessed for English prior to enrolment on the course.
Anyone wishing to enrol on this course, will need to attend an initial assessment session prior to the course starting, to ensure that this is an appropriate course for them and that they understand the course requirements.

What will I be learning

This is an ideal first qualification for anyone who is thinking about working or volunteering in a school or college.
On the course you will learn how:
To support the well-being of a child/young person.
Children develop and how adults can support their learning and development.
To communicate effectively with children and young people.

How will I be assessed and supported

There is no exam for this course. However, you will collect a folder of evidence showing what you have learned to meet the assessment criteria.
You will have an Individual Learning Plan to set and review targets and provide feedback, enabling continual reflection and evaluation throughout the course. You will also receive verbal and written feedback on marked work and practical tasks. You will use your ILP to help track and monitor your own progress towards set goals, to support personal development and achievement.

What do I need to bring?

You will need to bring a pen and folder.
