This is a 2 hour online taster session taught via Zoom

What will I be learning?

  • We will be looking at the format of the 10 week Pottery course
  • You will get an idea of what will be involved
  • You will try out a couple of techniques

No, this is a taster.

Who is the course for?

This course is designed for beginners who would like to know more about the 10 week pottery course

What do I need?

  • A reliable internet connection, a current email address and an electronic device
  • You will need a small amount of clay (be that either clay that can be fired, self hardening clay or fimo etc)
  • A few tools - knife, old credit or store card that can be cut, cling film, old bowls
  • Apron or to wear old clothes
  • Rolling pin

To connect to your online course via Zoom, you will need:

  • An electronic device of your choice connected to the Internet
  • An email address

Are there any additional costs?

The clay be an extra cost.

  • The clay I recommend starting would be a buff clay (sometimes it is called school buff)
  • You can also buy self hardening clay / fimo from Hobbycraft (retail or online)
  • If you would like to buy pottery tools Ebay / Amazon have a great selection

How will I know how I am progressing during the session?

On the DALS taster sessions learners will receive verbal feedback on work. Learners will will also track their own progress towards set goals.

Can I have help in the class?

At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability and require support. Learners declaring a support need will be referred for an assessment. If an enhanced support need is confirmed, a Support Package will be offered, to assist your progress in your learning and development, specific to your assessed needs.
