Course Information

What will I be learning?

You may be thinking of returning to work or looking for a better job or are considering a change in career direction. This employability programme will make you aware of how to look and apply for jobs online. It will also focus on completing job application forms.  Completing job applications can be daunting, confusing and time consuming, you will be shown the skills needed to complete an effective application form, giving you the best chance of getting the job. A CV is an important document and there will be a focus on CV creation as well as a look at interview questions and how to prepare for an interview.

None of us know yet, how the workplace may change in the future or what the new 'normal' may look like, but now is a good time to start assessing your current skills and qualities and the type of role and work environment you would enjoy in the future.

Whatever your background or previous employment history our friendly Careers Team can offer you free advice and guidance to help you on your way.

  • How to search and apply for jobs online
  • Effective application forms
  • Creating a CV
  • How to stand out in an interview

How will I know how I am progressing during the course?

At DALS, we use an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) to set and review targets and provide feedback, enabling continual reflection and evaluation throughout the course. Learners will also receive verbal and/or written feedback on marked work. Learners will use their ILP to help track and monitor their own progress towards set goals, to support personal development and achievement.

[There is no formal exam, although there is continual evaluation throughout the course].

Can I have help in the class?

At enrolment, it is important that you tell us if you have a learning difficulty or disability and require support. Learners declaring a support need will be referred for an assessment. If an enhanced support need is confirmed, a Support Package will be offered, to assist your progress in your learning and development, specific to your assessed needs.
